Omar Lopez

Omar Lopez combines yoga, dance and martial arts to soulful sounds and ancestral rhythms to provide a unique platform of movement meditation.

Omar is formerly a feature choreographer and dancer for several multi platinum selling entertainment icons such as Janet Jackson, Madonna, Mary J Blige, P. Diddy Ricky Martin, Pink and Usher ...just to name a few.

At present Mr. Lopez holds certifications with The national Academy of Sports Medicine ( NASM ), YOGA ALLIANCE, 200 hr cert. EARTHS POWER YOGA and is a dedicated practitioner of GRACIE JIU JITSU.

Omar's classes will challenge the warrior spirit while allowing the practitioner to do so in a safe space of spiritual liberation and self expression.

Rachel Eden

From a young age Rachel has always been interested in movement. As a child she was a gymnast, preferring to cartwheel instead of walk. When a shoulder injury took her out of the gymnastics world she turned to what seemed to be the next logical step, dance. Trained in all technical styles, she competed and performed in contemporary and modern dance until the age of 18. During high school she was introduced to Vinyasa Yoga through a dance teacher and found the combination of movement, breath, and spirituality exhilarating and challenging.

While studying at the University of Miami, Coral Gables, she used yoga as a way to relieve stress and stay fit. After graduating from college Rachel worked in brand marketing for five years. During that time she felt as though something was missing and was always happiest on her mat. After some soul-searching she decided it was time to leave the corporate world, take the plunge and re-dedicate her life to movement. Rachel’s classes are accessible to all levels from beginners to advanced practitioners. Expect to sweat, breathe, and move to some good tunes!

Tim Oakes

A San Diego native, I moved up to Los Angeles in pursuit of a college education. I studied at UCLA and completed my B.S. in Psychobiology in 2013. During my time at UCLA, I managed the Women’s NCAA Swim & Dive program. I think the combination of my psychology background and involvement in college-level athletics sparked my interest in the physical body as well as the mind. One of the most interesting classes I took at UCLA was Stress & Bodily Disease. In it we discussed the correlations between different stimuli (positive or negative) we subject our minds and bodies to and how it ultimately affects our quality of life. I’ve always been invested in personal growth and have a deep-seated hunger to learn. I think underlying all of this is an innate personal desire to understand all the inner-workings of life itself.

I found Hot 8 Yoga through a friend, and began my intro offer back in April of 2014. I quickly became hooked by the intense physical, mental, and spiritual workout I was engaging in. Yoga at Hot 8 Yoga was the first workout I became fully immersed in. I love that one’s yoga practice can be anything he/she needs it to be. Some days I come to my mat needing an intense physical workout – other days I need to engage my mind. Luckily there is everything from Yoga Barre to Hot Yoga, from Yin to Sculpt. I love the fact that I can pick and choose which classes I want to take based on the mood I’m in that day. No class-discrimination here!

Christine Nguyen

Christine V. Nguyen is never quite sure whether she found yoga, or yoga found her. Always an athlete with a natural love for movement, she fell in love at first with the asana — the physical layer of the practice. It was later, when dealing with personal loss and grief within her family and interpersonal relationships, that her true yoga practice began. Yoga helped her cultivate a necessary sense of stillness and even deep gratitude, in what was otherwise a paralyzing period in her life.

Christine received her 200-HR certification through Jennifer Prugh with the Joy of Yoga teacher training in Los Gatos, California. Her training emphasized the deep roots and history of yoga, as well as safely and intuitively opening the body for the physical practice. As a result, her classes are as much about cultivating body awareness and meeting physical challenges fearlessly, as it is about opening up the heart. Christine is also Yoga Sculpt certified, and believes that this fun, challenging format helped build her strength for a more advanced vinyasa practice.

Above all, Christine believes that time on the mat is a move towards a daily practice of joy and gratitude — come and play with her!

Yoga Vibe is a class that links breath to movement and beat as we seamlessly practice the postures to soulful sounds. Candles and high volume music set the ambiance of the room. The fast paced journey concludes with long stretches, deep hip openers and a guided meditation. Expect less alignment cues to help you remain centered and in your practice. Intermediate level recommended. Heated to 105-107 degrees. Class created by Omar Lopez.
