This class is taught by:

Carli Kline

Native to Sunny Southern California, Carli grew up living an active lifestyle. It wasn’t long before she developed a love for yoga sculpt. Carli started teaching Yoga Sculpt 2 years ago and has been practicing for 5 year. As yoga transformed her life, she wanted to inspire others with its gift. Yoga’s teachings have brought connection between mind and body awareness, peace of mind, and the feeling of being grounded into her life. Always open to growing and connecting, Carli continues to inspire, be inspired by her students and practice.

Marie Kazadi

Yoga found Marie. After making serious life changing decisions, including the decision to have a happy ending, a series of events unfolded leaving yoga to the end. Of course the story continues but a question was answered and a need met. Marie has been happily teaching yoga for over 2 years. The journey started 4 years ago when a yoga studio opened up next door to the salon she worked at in 2010. The awesome classes and inspiring teachers sealed the deal. From then on she has been faithful to her yoga practice being conscious of the wonderful lessons she learns every time she steps on her mat. With gentle encouragement from the many instructors who encouraged her every day she finally enrolled in the 200 Hour Teacher Training and received her certification in the summer of 2011. She considers this the best thing she has done career wise EVER! Her mission is to guide her class to being open to their potential and opportunities for growth within themselves and their yoga practice. Alignment is your power and is key in every one of her classes. Marie’s class is always full of energy, a powerful flow, awesome music, and above all, led with integrity.

Marxel Leobez

Marxel’s edge as a Yoga instructor is his ingenious fusion of multiple fitness techniques within a power vinyasa flow. Parlayed with an intense and engaging persona, his class is an addictive experience that although challenging will keep you coming back for more.

And its this, “ addictive experience,” that has given him a diverse following in Los Angeles from professional athletes, dancers, fitness enthusiast and the Hollywood elite.

Born and raised in southern CA Marxel grew up playing several competitive sports. Physical fitness had always been a facet of his life. Educated at an Ivy-League ( Cornell University) Marxel began his journey of being a transcontinental citizen through his NY, LA and European living experiences. His discovery of yoga came during these travels as a mishap...but was a life changing experience. By his completion of college he had already completed a BA, MA and a 500-RYT training. He relocated to Los Angeles to follow is dream and passion for the arts and Yoga soon after.

“The Highlight of what I do as a yoga and fitness instructor is helping someone find a new connection and awareness with their body. The beautiful thing is that new connections happen all the time within class or private sessions. Seeing my students grow, seeing them build their own personal practice, seeing them find satisfaction with what their body is capable of doing and achieving…is the most bitchen’ part of my job. Its an honor to be a part of their transformation as my students find their true pontential and edge. Get ready to sweat”

Cindy Gannon

Cindy has known since a young age that she wanted to inspire others to live a happier, healthier lifestyle. She was first introduced to yoga in high school through dance/cheerleading and quickly saw the benefits of the practice - in 2014 she attended Yoga Teacher Training in Silverlake, California. Cindy teaches yoga to teens through in-school programs around the Los Angeles area. Cindy also became Spinning™ Certified with Madd Dogg in 2015. With a strong fitness background, Yoga Sculpt was an instant passion for Cindy, as it provided her with that extra challenge she craved in her personal practice. Kelsey Netting

Kelsey is a bi-coastal, ardent mover who thrives in creating and understanding what movement has to offer the world. Prior to her introduction to yoga, Kelsey studied all styles of dance beginning at the age of four. In 2010, she began teaching, choreographing and performing for three of the pre-professional companies at her home studio, Dance One Studios. In 2013, Kelsey moved to California to attend college at Loyola Marymount University, where she received her Bachelor’s Degree in Dance. Throughout that time, Kelsey began practicing Bikram, Kundalini, and Vinyasa-Flow Yoga. Upon graduating, Kelsey decided to take her yoga practice to the next level, which brought her to CorePower. Kelsey completed her 200 hour Yoga Alliance Certification program, where she refueled her passion for teaching and movement, and found a new sense of purpose in her life. Yoga has provided her with the opportunity to authentically express herself on and off the mat. It has enhanced her body awareness, presence of mind, and confidence. Kelsey is excited to bring her passion for movement to Hot 8 Yoga. Kelsey’s classes are high energy, fun, and musically driven. Her teaching style is challenging yet nurturing, emphasizing proper anatomical alignment, breath, and creative sequencing. It is her goal to provide a safe space for her students where they can grow physically, and mentally, while expressing themselves through movement and breath.

Christine Nguyen

Christine V. Nguyen is never quite sure whether she found yoga, or yoga found her. Always an athlete with a natural love for movement, she fell in love at first with the asana — the physical layer of the practice. It was later, when dealing with personal loss and grief within her family and interpersonal relationships, that her true yoga practice began. Yoga helped her cultivate a necessary sense of stillness and even deep gratitude, in what was otherwise a paralyzing period in her life.

Christine received her 200-HR certification through Jennifer Prugh with the Joy of Yoga teacher training in Los Gatos, California. Her training emphasized the deep roots and history of yoga, as well as safely and intuitively opening the body for the physical practice. As a result, her classes are as much about cultivating body awareness and meeting physical challenges fearlessly, as it is about opening up the heart. Christine is also Yoga Sculpt certified, and believes that this fun, challenging format helped build her strength for a more advanced vinyasa practice.

Above all, Christine believes that time on the mat is a move towards a daily practice of joy and gratitude — come and play with her!

Layna Dakin

Layna is passionate about living a healthy, well-balanced life full of meaning, growth and an abundance of love. Through every practice Layna will guide and encourage you to move within the intelligence of your own unique body, to enjoy the physical challenge and the peaceful energy yoga brings into our lives on and off the mat. Layna’s love of fitness began in her living room at a very young age, rocking out to Jane Fonda’s exercise videos! She started her teaching career at University of Massachusetts with aerobics and Pilates. After studying Iyengar yoga for a year abroad in Hawaii, Layna quickly felt this alignment based practice deepen her love for the mechanics of the body. Layna has since completed 300 hours of training with Baron Baptiste, 500 hours with Yoga-fit, and has studied with Annie Carpenter, Maty Ezraty, Shiva Rea, Denise Kaufman, Deanna Ainsworth, and is an AFAA certified group exercise instructor and personal trainer. "You live your truth by sharing it." ~Baron Baptiste

Debbie Cohen

Deborah Cohen, a fitness enthusiast, cannot remember a time in her life when she wasn’t participating in some sort of athletic activity. It wasn’t until college though that she began her journey into yoga. Yoga gave her something that other sports didn’t offer. It gave her a healthy balance, as it helped her deal with the regular stressors of everyday life in a non-competitive way. It taught her to remain calm despite any difficulty and to be patient with herself, while also improving her flexibility and mind-body awareness (duh!).

So with a love of children and enthusiasm for fitness, it was only a matter of time till she began to share her passion of yoga with kids. Deborah received her children's yoga certification in 2008 at Karma Kids (NYC). She continued teaching kids’ yoga while completing both her 200 and 300hr study through YogaWorks (NYC).

She loved being a part of the yoga world, but felt like something was missing. In 2012 she moved to LA and started taking Yoga sculpt. And just like that, she knew she had finally found her “yoga calling” (cheesy, but true).

Yoga sculpt provided the best of both worlds, as it toned not only her body, but also her mind. She found that it gave her an inner strength that she had been yearning for. It made her feel powerful, like she could conquer any obstacles that came her way. And once she had this feeling, she knew she had to share it with others. She was trained in Yoga sculpt in the spring of 2014 and hasn’t looked back since.
______________________________________________________

When I first started my yoga journey, I never thought I would become a yoga teacher. After a while though, I started to ask myself, why not? For me, when I love something so much, I naturally want to share it with others. So now I do. Now I get to share my passion for yoga with people of all ages on a daily basis, and I am so honored to have this opportunity.

Thank you so much for welcoming me into your yoga practice, and furthermore, into your life. Namaste

Leigh Wakeford

Leigh Wakeford was born and raised in the beautiful “Mother City” of Cape Town, South Africa. Big dreams, and great aspirations led him to the lights of Broadway, where he has called Manhattan his home for the past 4 years. He thanks the hustle and bustle of New York City for sending him on a journey to find the peace, harmony and balance, that is essential to juggle a career based in uncertainty and a life surrounded by chaos. Yoga was the answer. “On my mat, I could shut out the noisy surroundings of the busy Metropolis, and silence the voices of doubt in my mind. Even if just for an hour a day, I found my solitude, my church.” His inevitable obsession with the Yoga lifestyle lead him to his mentors Stephanie Culen and Mindy Frenkl, under whose guidance Leigh completed his 200 hour RYT certification in December 2010.

Fast-forward to April 2012, Leigh finds himself in the City of Angels, having made a career transition from the stage to the silver screen. Committed to finding his “church” in his new home, enter Hot 8 Yoga, Nancy Norby and a new fitness concept known as “Yoga Barre”. Having been trained in all forms of dance for the past 10 years, this combination of ballet barre technique, yoga and heat opened Leigh’s mind and body to the endless benefits of merging his passion for dance, his primal need for yoga, and fascination with healthy living. An obsession was born. Leigh received his Yoga Barre certification through Hot 8 Yoga in May 2012.

“If you're ready to feel the passion, the heat, the music and the love...come join me. It's about finding balance, inside and out, and whether you're a guy, girl, young, or not so young... let’s embark on this journey together. For if I'm in that place of peace, love and light, in me as you are in yours - then we are ONE. Namaste, friends.“

Kimberly Cantrell

Kimi’s passion for yoga began when she first stepped on the mat in 2011. The combination of mind and body awareness became a very therapeutic experience for her and she has been practicing ever since. To deepen her practice she attended Yoga Works' 200-hour training. Upon completion, she realized she wanted to pursue a career in health and wellness. Her classes are heavily rooted in form, breath, philosophy and most importantly, fun. She absolutely loves seeing her students grow and she is constantly inspired by their strength and dedication. When she's not practicing, she can be found riding her bike, walking her dog, or catching up with a friend over coffee.
