Foundations 1 What Is Yoga?

This class is taught by:

Mackenzie Morrin

Mackenzie comes from an athletic background and grew up hanging out in the back of the studio in her parents' group fitness classes. With a gymnastics background, she began practicing Bikram at age 8 as a weekend hobby and later found her passion in Vinyasa flow, Restorative and Yin style classes. So it came as no surprise when she did her 200 hour teacher training in 2014 and became a RYT with Yoga Alliance.

Nicole Avendano

Born and raised in Miami, FL. Her love for yoga began when she first moved to Los Angeles in the summer of 2011. After landing at Hot 8 Yoga, she immediately fell in love and quickly became a part of the Hot 8 Yoga community. As a young child that grew up physically active, she believes that it wasn't until she found yoga that she truly understood how to feel comfortable in her own body. The combination of both the physical and the spiritual connection she felt was what got her attention. She was able to apply the lessons she learned in the yoga room both on and off her mat! Always in search for improvement and self discovery, Nicole decided to embark on the journey of becoming a yoga teacher. She completed her 200 hour certification and since then has been dedicated to create a safe space for other people to connect with their spiritual power, feel comfortable in their bodies, and just have fun!

Daniel McMahon

Dan began practicing hot yoga in Chicago five years ago to address issues with anxiety and get in better physical shape. He found yoga to be much more effective than any medical intervention and gradually began practicing more frequently. Shortly after moving to Los Angeles in 2015, Dan discovered Hot 8, taking advantage of the opportunity to expand his practice into many different styles. In the Spring of 2016 he completed the 200 hour hot yoga teacher training under Deanna Ainsworth in Santa Monica and is excited to be a part of the Hot 8 community. Dan believes in maintaining a beginners mind and treating yoga practice as a lifelong journey. He also sees yoga as the perfect compliment to his other passion, music.

Katy Impellizzeri

Katy fell in love with yoga after floating out of her first savasana. She has always been intrigued by the elaborate systems that make up the human body along with it’s deep connection to the mind, breath, and soul. Physical asana practice and meditation opened windows and doors in her mind that she never even knew existed. That, and her natural tendency to ask ‘why?’, led to her first 200-hour teacher training where she began to dive deeper into the practice and her Self.

Now a certified E-RYT 500 teacher, she shares her perspective in public & private yoga classes and workshops all over the country. She also volunteers her time teaching kids of all ages and walks of life in schools and community centers.

Forever a student, Katy hopes to inspire anyone and everyone (in her class or not) to discover their full potential and live a life full of happiness, health, peace and love.

Always enjoy good vibes and good beats in her strong & steady vinyasa classes and her grounding yin classes. Flirt with the connection between breath and movement to maybe discover some hidden doors and windows of your own…
