My approach to yoga is understanding that only with a strong committed daily practice, overcoming and pushing through the urge to let the pose overcome you, can one only then begin to shed the layers of the ego that have been holding us back from becoming our truest self leading every decision with an unconditionally loving open heart.

Kat Standefer

Kat, a Michigan native, first stepped onto the mat at Yoga for Performers class in college. She found yoga to be endlessly therapeutic for the mind, body and spirit. As a performing artist, yoga was particularly helpful in learning to control the breath and to ease the mind. Kat has always been passionate about connecting her two loves of yoga and music, so when she had the opportunity to join the Hot 8 community, she immediately jumped on board. She brings comfort and warmth to those around her, and she is excited to encourage others to find peace on and off the mat just as she has!
Foundations 2 Intro to Meditation & Philosophy is an introduction into Ayurveda- the Science of Life, and the meaning of OM as well as other accessible yoga philosophy.
 
This 4 week series sets the foundation for a successful yoga practice. It can be attended out of order and is designed for those who are new to yoga or have practiced for some time and are looking for a deeper understanding. The intention is to demystify 'What is Yoga'. We will explore foundational postures and introduce yoga philosophy. This program is accessible to all in a fun supportive environment. Come learn about the 8 Limbs of Yoga and take your practice to the next level!
