Marja L

Marja Lankinen is a credentialed yoga therapist, Reiki Master, and founder and CEO of Yoga for Dancers. Based in Los Angeles, Marja travels the globe teaching yoga, meditation, and goal coaching for artists and entrepreneurs.

A professional dancer, Marja has danced for Beyonce, Oprah, the Billboard Awards, the Grammys (national commercial), Frank Gatson, Laurieann Gibson, Twista, and the Lumineers. Once the Executive Director of Dance2XS Michigan and former Boom!Crack Dance Company (Chicago) member. In 2012, Marja moved to Los Angeles after an international dance tour in Asia and, still pursuing her passion, Marja is signed as a commercial artist and educator with Movement Talent Agency.

A credentialed yoga therapist, Marja graduated from Loyola Marymount University's Yoga Therapy Rx program. She also holds a second five hundred hour yoga certification with Annie Carpenter's SmartFlow Yoga. Marja has mentored under SmartFlow master teacher, Tiffany Russo, and assisted Annie Carpenter's SmartFlow 200 hour teacher training in Oakland and at Udaya Yoga Festival in Bulgaria. A lifelong student, Marja has continued her education with Dr. Eden Goldman's STAMPY (Soft Tissue Assessment and Myofascial Release for Bodyworkers and Yoga Teachers) workshop, Yoga for Trauma teacher training with Hala Khouri and Kyra Haglund, Healer Training I-IV with David Elliot, Reiki I, II, and Reiki Master Training with Racquel Tristan, Yoga Tune Up at YogaWorks Soho New York, and Power, Yin Yoga and Hot Power Fusion with Corepower Yoga. In the summer of 2016, Marja shadowed physical therapist, Karen Moran, of Fusion Arts Physical Therapy in Encino, California.

Marja teaches yoga at FOX, Disney, Viacom, Sony Motion Picture Studios, NBC Universal, and Hot 8 Yoga. She specializes in therapeutics and injury prevention techniques for professional dancers and teaches Yoga for Dancers at Millennium Dance Complex, Movement Lifestyle Dance Studio, Debbie Reynolds Dance Studio's scholarship program, and for Gigi Torres' Establish Your Empire dance training program. Marja has been a guest teacher for Gothenburg Opera Dance Company (Sweden), LAX Paris, Pineapple Studio (London), lululemon Cannes, Zurich, Amsterdam, Paris, and Covent Garden, SHALA Helsinki (Finland), ISY (Germany), Hubbard Street Dance Chicago's summer intensive at the University of Southern California (2016 and 2017), USC Kaufman School of Dance, USC Trojan Force dance team, Chapman University Dance Department, The Edge Performing Arts Center (on faculty 2013-2015), The Pulse Dance Convention, Velocity Dance Convention, Diavolo Dance Company, Jacob Jonas Dance Company, Kaba Modern Dance Company, Culture Shock LA Dance Company, Tony Tzar's Blacklight Society, Antoine Troope and Kolanie Mark's Kreativ Mindz Academy, Matt Cady and Tovaris Wilson's Unique Dance Program, and After School Matters Hip Hop Dance and Culture Ensemble (Chicago).

Outside of her work with Yoga for Dancers, Marja was the in-residency yoga therapist for the junior and professional athletes of the United States Tennis Association, has co-led Hot 8 Yoga Beverly Hills' 200 hour yoga teacher trainings from 2014-2017, and led Hot 8 Yoga's first yoga retreat in Tulum, Mexico with fellow dancer, Omar Lopez.

Marja is a legacy ambassador at lululemon Studio City, staff writer for LA YOGA Magazine, and was featured on Galit Friedlander's DanceSpeak podcast on iTunes.

  • Hot Power Fusion
  • This hour-long, shoulder-friendly class focuses on strengthening without chaturangas (high to low push-ups). A balanced mix of both our Hot Yoga and Power Yoga styles, HPF will both restore and revitalize your muscles. It includes standing postures, core work, deep hip openers, and inversions. All levels welcome. Heated to 105-109 degrees.

  • A Vinyasa-style dynamic flow class, Hot Power Yoga uses breath as the primary link between attentiveness and integration of the mind and body. Hot Power Yoga is an intense practice that will flow you through strengthening postures throughout the entire class. This practice is meant to detoxify the body and burn calories through movement, breath, and heat. Designed for intermediate to advanced levels. Heated to 105-109 degrees.
